wanted a bit of a change in the living room.....I found a hutch a few years ago that I had on my patio that would do the trick....I filled it with some of my treasures and love the new change.....

Moved a few more things around...more tomorrow..

Homemade Is Best

Rag Lamp Shade :-)

I have been away from doing homemade projects for a while....I'm starting in again and started with this adorable lamp shade....I got the idea from a shade my friend Sharon bought.....very simple....I was so excited to start this project I forgot to take before pictures.....I took an old lamp shade (bought at the thrift store) tore off the cover sprayed painted the frame antique white ...then cut strips about 6 or 7 inches long and about 1 1/2 inches wide....of about 5 or 6 different fabric in the same shades but different textures......just do what looks good to you...and be very generous with the strips when tying around the top and bottom of the wire shade....I tied one at a time alternating the fabric....it took about 2 hours or so......

I put this shade over a lamp shade I had...you can put it over a shade or it can be by it-self over a pretty light bulb...

and of course I had to have one in Pink ....

Bud Vase

"Sweet Pink"

When my Grand-daughter Ailish was born a friend gave me a rose bush called Baby Blanket....the pale pink roses are small and delicate....I found the cute little bud vase at Z Gallerie last week and had the perfect rose to put int it....I attached it to my bathroom mirror....I love seeing the sweet little rose...something so small put a smile on my face.....

The Treasures We Find !

I love being a looky-lou in Niles, CA.....there are so MANY antique stores there.....I haven't been to Niles for quite a while so off I went....I discovered a NEW STORE .....YIPEEEEEE......mind you I have no where to put anything and did NOT want to buy anything ....yea right !!!!!

WELLLLLL I found this amazing stained glass window...I think at one time it was a door of some kind.....now the questions was....HOW DO I NOT BUY THIS WINDOW....it was $30 dollars !!!!!!!

and I adore the color PINK....and at the moment I LOVE pink tulips......did I tell you it was $30 dollars...!!!

I have no idea where I'm putting it yet...HELP I NEED MORE ROOM !!!!!!!!

Is It Spring ?!?!

Look what I found in my garden....two tulips..."The Decision" !!!!!! to leave them in the garden or bring them in the house and enjoy them...well, you guessed it...in the house they came with me....the bulbs have been in my garden FOR YEARS like about 25 years.....and they are still blooming every year.......YEAH Tulips !!!!!!

Shopping Is GOOD For You !

I heard on the news this morning that Shopping is GOOD for you....well, I have to admit that it was a fun day yesterday....My BFF Sharon and I went to a once a month gathering of several women that love the thrill of the hunt and we get to SHOP.....I found this clock, I have a thing for clocks,...only $16...I have it in my living room and I love the change......I also thought this was a great idea for old bottles you might have hanging around the house, picture shown above....

I thought this was a clever way to display candles...

Sharon found this cute little table ..it holds Magazines..books etc. and also the lamp shade....she put it over another shade on her cute little lamp....

we did have a great day shopping....so I have to believe that Shopping is REALLY good for you...

Retirement and ME !!!!!!

Well, it's all about "ME" this post......I retired last April and am just posting about it....can you believe it.....I had so much going on in my life at the time it just wasn't that important to post about...with my Mom's passing last August things are kinda getting back to normal...what ever normal is....

I did want to share the beautiful retirement cake Michelle my co-worker made for me....she also teaches cake decorating and of course I took a few classes from her.....it was so much fun......

I worked for an amazing Airline and had the time of my life everyday......I embrace Retirement and love my life.....but I do have another part...part....part time job just for fun!!!!!

Sharon's Home Tour

I have two of Sharon's rooms today....

Her Guest Room and Master Bath....

How about a little Black & White......this is Sharon's guest room.....I love the little touch of Pink !!!!!

Sharon's Master Bath....the tub came from Omega Salvage Company in Oakland....good thing Sharon bought the tub before they finished building the bath or it would not have fit !!!!!!

I still have a two more rooms to share.....at a later date.....

Sorry I got a bit side tracked about the tour of Sharon"s home and let a few days slip by me....Sharon and her Hubby did this re-do.....It is all bead board and sooooo pretty.....it's a great place to visit....SMILE.......

If you have been following my blog...you will see that Sharon and I have a lot of the same little treasures...but we use them is different ways....we love getting ideas and bouncing ideas off each other......

"HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY"

Around my home as a child this has always been a very special day.....my Mom was born and raised in Ireland....met my Father in England...married and moved to California......My Irish Grandmother every St. Patrick's day would mail to my Mom live Shamrock that came in a little box ....as children this was such a big deal that we would get shamrock from Ireland......thus this gift from my Daughter Kera shown below......this put the biggest SMILE on my face because it brought all the wonderful memories of getting that special gift from my own Irish Grandmother......

I hope this day will bring wonderful memories your way...

My BFF Sharon

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite places to have a nice hot cup of tea......where else but my BFF (best friends forever) Sharon's Kitchen .......I give Sharon a call a little bit before I arrive and by magic there is a nice Hot Cup Of Tea waiting for me.....we have spent many hours sitting at this table talking, laughing and even a bit of crying.....I LOVE my BFF Sharon !!!!!!!....Sharon's kitchen is so cozy...fun...romantic and a fun place to spend time....over the next few days I will be sharing a bit of Sharons home with you.....

A New Bud Vase

Went to lunch a few days ago to this cute little dinner in Berkley called BETTE's OCEANVIEW DINNER on Fourth Street.....what a cute place it was and the lunch was fabulous....after we took a stroll and looked in some shops...I found this cute bigger than a bud vase on sale for $5.99....so home it went with me...I found it at Z Gallerie...they have some of the cutest things in there..

We were lucky ...the weather was fabulous so we ate outside....

A Little Change !

Changing things around....and not as much!

I love my stuff but lately I've been wanting a little less....maybe it's just a phase I'm going through.....I had this little table behind my sofa in the living room ...my living room is very small so it did give me a bit more room.....I moved the table to the family room and for now I like it....

I also removed several things from this little hutch....

Is less more or more less !!!!!
