My "Wish Book"

I don't know about you but I have a lot of magazines....over the years I would love one picture and keep the magazine forever and when I wanted to see the picture I could never fine it after hours of searching....or there was a great idea that you wanted to try and again couldn't find the darn magazine the idea was in.....so a year or so back I couldn't take it any more and my "Wish Book" was born......
My "Wish Book"......
I put the pictures in plastic page covers from Office Depot....very inexpensive....
I would go through the magazines and tear the page out I wanted to keep......the little pile of pages on the left is about 12 to 15 magazines....amazing...I only had a hand full of pages and not a bundle of magazines.....

when I have some free time...which is rare...I love to have my coffee and just sit for an hour or so and go through and save my favorite pages.......

when they seem to pile up...I know it is time to have my little cup of coffee and tear away.....

another stack just waiting.......

now on the other hand....I save all the Romantic Country and Romantic Home because I like every page...hehe....

I like to separate my wish book into sections like garden, bedroom, kitchen etc......

The hard part is getting started.......

now I have a beautiful wish book of hundreds of magazines in one little book.....
of everything I love and no more searching for hours for that one little picture I just know was there.....
Just a little tip I thought I would pass along......
Hugs,
Mo :-)

I started doing that awhile back because the piles were getting too deep. It's a great way to keep just what you want. I agree with you about not tearing up Romantic Country and Romantic Home!
I also have a little journal that I keep. I do a little writing, and include fave pics from magazines. It's a fun journal.
Have a great week,
Debi

Great idea Mo... I actually do something very similar with all of my old magazines and have been for years. I've turned them into decorating scrapbooks which I spend hours working on sometimes. I actually did a post on it last year. Maybe you should stop by when you get a chance and take a look at mine. Might inspire you to get even a little more creative. Take care...

Yes, I do that too! Well, I used to, till I was overrun with binders LOL! Now I have a really pretty, large accordian file (made by Markings who does beautiful stationery and blank book) that holds a TON of stuff! Works pretty well!

I started doing this and still have them in a file! It is so funny when I first started reading your post I thought oh how will I be able to rip pic's out of my Romantic Country, there are too many good pic's and then I saw what you wrote about saving those, it's an obsession, LOL. Great idea. Also I just saw your post about your new mantel top for your bedroom, how do you get so lucky to find those, I never see them down here, when you do run across them they are soooo expensive, anyways it looks so beautiful!

Great idea. All those magazines must cost a fortune.

I also have a wish book that I keep near. I started about 6 years ago and I love it. I look at it over and over and always come away with a few good ideas. I do have some books like you I could not tear apart. A glass of tea a good wish book and I can sit for hours and dream.

Thanks Mo, ;-) Bo

I had to laugh when I saw your stack of magazines and your trunk full too. I'm telling you my friend. I think the best book in the world to have would be your wish book! Just judging from your wonderful style I know that you have clipped and tucked into sleves all the pages that I would love!
Ok now I am going to look at that beautiful mantle that you finishes.
More below..lol

What a great idea!!! I think I'm going to do that. I also have stacks of magazines and every so often I go through and weed some out, but it is tough. I really love this. Thanks for sharing!!

I do the same thing!! Mine is organized according to rooms. I also have a garden section. The photos are so beautiful I just hated to get rid of them. Isn't that funny? Great minds think alike and it sounds like there are a few of us out there.

PS..and I never tear apart Romantic Homes either!

Hi Mo! I've done this very thing. Sometimes I'm good at keeping up with my 'wish' pages, but for the last couple of years - I've been bad! Stacks and stacks of mags.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I thought I have recently seen someone do a post on this and then I saw the comment by Shabby Kim and realized that was where I saw that. I got as far as getting more page protectors. I guess that is a start. LOL!

I need to make a book! I have baskets full of magazines!

I started doing that back in the 70's. Now I look at it and laugh at some of the things I liked back then. I didn't keep up with it though and I have so many magazines that I need to purge. Thanks for the idea, I need to do this, I really do!

Mo, I really need to do this. Magazines are taking over. I have a hard time tearing pages out but I need to get over it already. Often there are only a few pages in magazines that speak to our heart, the rest we can do without, and...like you said, we could find the article/picture we are looking for. You have inspired me.

What a great idea. I've saved many pages but never put them all together. And I even used some of those pages in putting together a memory book for my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary. Think I need to run to Office Depot!!

Have fun in Tahoe!!

Hey Mo!
I'm so glad that you posted this....now I don't feel a bit guilty anymore for what I've been up to this week! LOL! I have been having the most fun this week... going through my old magazines and tearing out my favs pictures. I'd been wanting to clean some out, but then I could just never part with them....but then I thought why keep them all....I could just keep the photos that inspired me.....so I am in the process of putting them in a folder right now. I am working on doing this same thing that you did here....with your magazine photos. That's a wonderful idea, because the clear plastic sheets will preserve the pages. I am so glad that you showed how you compiled your magazine photos. By the way....they look delish!
Hope you and darling husband have a wonderful trip to Lake Tahoe...it looks so beautiful!
Big Hugs,
Queenie~
